In 2 weeks we will be in the middle of the NAPLAN tests. One million Australian students will be doing the same tests in literacy and numeracy for the first time in the history of education in Australia. This is a landmark in education for Australia and surely a sign of a more united approach to come in a country with a relatively small population. A national curriculum is long overdue as is a national year 12 certificate. What is your choice of name? The ACE (Australian Certificate of Education), The NICE (National and International Certificate of Education), The MATE (Managing Australian Tertiary Entrance).
