NAPLAN important dates for 2020
NAPLAN 2020 paper tests have been scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday 12 May, Wednesday 13 May and Thursday 14 May 2020.
For schools undertaking NAPLAN Online in 2020, the test window will run from Tuesday 12 May to Friday 22 May 2020.

NAPLAN Online delay
The country's education ministers have agreed to delay the national online rollout of NAPLAN for one year until 2021 following technological issues with the test this year.
The decision was agreed to by Australia's education ministers at a meeting in Melbourne on Friday.
An independent review of the national tests has been commissioned after some students lost connectivity and others were unable to log in when the testing took place across the country in mid-May.
The ministers will await the findings and recommendations of the review before finalising the online transition.
Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan says the tests worked for 97 per cent of students, but the government has to ensure the transition is done properly so all states and territories are online.
The ministers will consider how this year's results are reported, given the connectivity issues.
The federal minister has also rejected a proposal from his NSW counterpart to review the entire system, saying the online rollout has to be the number one priority.
"We've got to get the transition online right," Mr Tehan told reporters after the meeting.
"Then we can look to a more fulsome review of NAPLAN of where we would like to take it for the next decade."
NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell called for a review of the national assessment, which would consider alternative options to the NAPLAN test.
She believes it's time to design a new test that is "genuinely useful".
About 50 per cent of Australian students took the test online this year, with close to 2.2 million assessments overall.
Mr Tehan says the testing is important to see how students are tracking.
"We need NAPLAN. We're seeing our literacy and numeracy rates in this country decline over time, we've got to address that and we've got to make sure we've got the tools which enable us to measure how we're addressing that."

New emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy
The NSW Government will redouble its efforts to lift literacy and numeracy standards across NSW public schools to ensure students are given every opportunity to be their best.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian was at Panania Public School on Monday to unveil a new Premier’s Priority which aims to increase the number of public school students in the top two NAPLAN, or equivalent, bands for literacy and numeracy by 15 per cent by 2023.
Under the new Priority, an additional 18,700 students will improve their literacy skills and 13,500 students will boost their numeracy skills across NSW.
Ms Berejiklian said it was an ambitious target but one the NSW Government is confident will be achieved.
“We successfully achieved the 2015 Premier Priority of increasing the number of students in the top two NAPLAN bands by eight per cent by 2019 and now we have set the bar even higher,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“We are unashamedly for lifting standards in our schools and unlocking the massive potential of our young people.”
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell confirmed that the Government’s Bump It Up program, which identifies schools that have the greatest potential to lift their students' performance in literacy and numeracy, will be extended to all schools across the State.
“Since introducing the 2015 Premier’s Priority, around 20,000 students achieved results in the top two NAPLAN bands for literacy and numeracy in the last year alone,” Ms Mitchell said.
“By 2023, we expect to see significant, tangible improvement in literacy and numeracy, right across the State.”
Panania Public School has participated in Bump It Up since 2016. The school now has 130 students sitting NAPLAN each year, with around 20 additional students in the top two bands of NAPLAN in 2018.

A typical scare beat up by the media over NAPLAN Online
It is so annoying that the media (in need of a story) tries to make NAPLAN Online a national crisis. It is nothing of the sort and journalists should take a chill pill (Henrietta Cook take note).
